Our high quality basket bases are the very first of their kind in Australia and are proudly all Australian made, right here on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast!
Our basket bases are suitable for the newest crochet students, to the expert crochet basket makers and sellers. Regardless of your crochet ability, our basket bases will bring an element of unique style, texture and structure to your creations, while saving you precious time, yarn and money.
We use locally sourced timber and choose to work with environmentally conscious partners who offset the carbon footprint as much as possible.
Our timber bases are:
- made of strong, hardwood ply
- 3.6mm thick
- designed to be used with t-shirt yarn or 3-5mm rope
- designed to be used with hook sizes 5- 6mm for ‘casting on’ and 7- 9mm for the basket walls
- come in a range of sizes, with measurements starting from 10cm
- able to be personalised, for an additional fee

Important Information
- Please note that as we are a handmade business, we are not able to accept returns/refunds for purchases of bases. We carefully inspect each base before shipping and take great pride in the quality of our bases. However, if you do have any feedback or concerns, we would love to hear from you!
- Although we clean each timber base before shipping, you may notice some remaining dark residue around the edge of the base and inside base holes. This occurs due to the cutting process. This is normal and does not affect the function or quality of the timber base – the edge will be covered once you begin turning it into a stunning basket.
- As the bases are made from timber, the wood grain pattern and colour may vary between bases. This adds to the character and uniqueness of you basket base!
- We carefully package your bases to protect them during transit. We send through Australia Post using satchels, or boxes or bulk orders. Basket Bases Australia cannot accept responsibility for delays due to the Australia Post service.
- Postage cost is calculated automatically at the online checkout, by weight and size.
- We accept payment via credit card and PayPal when ordering online. We also gladly accept bank transfers, but you will need to place your order directly via email to use this option.
- Please allow 2 – 3 weeks for delivery of items on back order. It will most likely be much faster than this, but better to be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed!
